Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our products, availability, and support.
Where are Polar Air products manufactured?
Our products are manufactured in global facilities under strict quality control. Products are then distributed through our logistics network (using our in-house team) to warehouses in Spain and Canada, or directly to project site.
Do you stock your products locally?
Yes. We stock the most in-demand models and configurations in our warehouses in Spain and Canada, including plastic units such as highwall and cassette models (EC motors and 2-pipe systems), as well as common spare parts.
Please contact us for the latest stock availability or a quotation.
Do you have local partners or distributors?
Yes. We work with a network of representatives and partners worldwide. You can find them on our website locator.
How do I get in touch with a local Polar Air distributor?
Use the partner locator on our website. If there is no contact listed in your area, contact us and we will connect you with the right person.
How do I become a trusted Polar Air distributor or Rep?
Complete the information in this form and we’ll be in touch to discuss your request to become a distributor.
What are your production and delivery times?
Polar Air can deliver worldwide. Typical lead times are:
Manufacturing:
- Container volumes: 4 to 6 weeks
Transport:
- Sea freight: up to 8 weeks
- Air freight: up to 10 days
- Stock items: up to 7 days
For project-specific timelines, please contact your Polar Air representative or us.
Do you offer global shipping?
Yes. We manage global shipping through our logistics network, and can deliver to warehouses or directly to project sites.
Our in-house team can provide you with supply chain control direct from factory, with competitive pricing and logistics to reduce complexity and lead times.
What filter options are available?
Standard units come with MERV 4 filters. MERV 8 and MERV 14 are available as upgrades, depending on the model and region.
Plus, our ducted fan coils come with a toolless filter rack for easy maintenance.
Please select a product to see the range of filter options available.
What’s the lifespan of the EC motor?
Motor lifespan depends on operating conditions such as temperature and maintenance. Under ideal conditions, EC motors can run up to 40,000 hours (around 5–6 years of continuous operation).
Are Polar Air products noisy?
Sound levels vary depending on the model and size. Product-specific sound data is available, and detailed sound tables can be provided on request.
Do you offer integrated valves or condensate pumps for fan coils?
Many models support optional 2- or 3-way valves and integrated condensate pumps, particularly ducted and cassette units. Availability depends on the product.
Please select a product to see the optional accessories offered.
What pressure does the coil stand?
The maximum recommended fan coil working pressure is 16 bar (1.6 MPa). All coils are tested between 25 bar (2.5 MPa) and 35 bar (3.5 MPa) to ensure safety and reliability.
Do Polar Air fan coils use refrigerant or are they VRF air conditioners?
Polar Air fan coils are not VRF air conditioners and do not use refrigerant. They operate using hydronic (water-based) technology, where water circulates through a coil to provide heating or cooling.
Compared to VRF systems, hydronic fan coils offer:
- No refrigerant in occupied spaces, reducing risk from leaks
- Higher energy efficiency, as water carries more thermal energy
- Simpler maintenance, without refrigerant handling
- Greater flexibility with 2- and 4-pipe systems
- Lower environmental impact
This makes them a practical and efficient alternative across a wide range of applications.

Are your fan coils available in 2-pipe and 4-pipe configurations?
Yes. Polar Air fan coils are available in both 2-pipe and 4-pipe configurations, depending on the model and application requirements.
Selected models, including highwall units, are also available in 4-pipe configurations, offering greater flexibility for projects that require simultaneous heating and cooling.
What applications are Polar Air fan coils suitable for?
Polar Air fan coils are suitable for a wide range of applications, including residential, commercial, healthcare, education, and hospitality projects. They can be used in both new builds and retrofit installations.
Why are fan coils a good solution with air-to-water heat pumps?
Fan coils work efficiently with low-temperature water systems, making them well suited to air-to-water heat pumps. This allows for energy-efficient heating and cooling, improved system performance, and easier integration in modern building designs.
What control options are available?
Polar Air fan coils support a range of control options, including wall-mounted thermostats and integration with building management systems (BMS), depending on the model and configuration.
Please see our Controls page to find out more.
Are your products compliant with local regulations?
Polar Air fan coils are CE and cETLus certified, and many models are also CB, Eurovent and AHRI certified, ensuring compliance with global standards.
To find out the specific certifications for each model, please select a product, use our PA SELECT software, or contact your Polar Air representative.
How do I choose the right fan coil for my project?
Product selection depends on factors such as application, required capacity, and installation constraints. Our team can support you in selecting the right unit for your project. Contact us to use our service, or use our PASELECT Software.
