The 43rd MCE – Mostra Convegno Expocomfort was held March 12–15, 2024 at Fiera Milano, Milan. It attracted over 1,700 exhibitors, with 60% from abroad, and hosted thousands of international professionals across HVAC+R, renewable energy, and smart building sectors.
The fair ran under the theme “Beyond Comfort”, reflecting MCE’s push toward innovation, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
Major trends & insights from MCE 2024 in Milan
01 MCE themes
Three core pillars —Innovation, Sustainability, and Efficiency —defined the event. Dedicated itineraries like Smartness and Hydrogen Hub underscored the new focus areas driving HVAC evolution: digital integration, cleaner energy vectors, and water-smart systems
02 Smart system and layouts
MCE rolled out a refreshed floorplan that unified sectors like indoor climate, components, and renewable technologies. This layout improved connectivity between exhibitors and visitors, making it easier to navigate innovation zones and product demos.
03 Transition goals and awards
The debut of the MCE Excellence Awards – Efficiency & Innovation 4 Transition Goals celebrated technologies aligned with UN 2030 sustainability targets. Meanwhile, the Water Prix introduced competitions centered on intelligent water use, reflecting broader industry priorities.
04 Market trends
Hydronic systems remain central to decarbonized building strategies, especially in architecture that is migrating to lower supply temperature loops, which are compatible with air-to-water heat pump infrastructure.
Smart terminal units and components are now expected to support open protocols (like BACnet/Modbus), enable diagnostics, and simplify service routines.
The industry is forging deeper technical partnerships, with increased B2B networking, training sessions, and aligned educational paths, primarily focusing on safety (such as A2L refrigerants) and electrification pathways.
Polar Air at MCE 2024
- We launched two standout products: the 4‑pipe PHW Highwall and the PFWSL(U) Slim Console/Floorstanding, both new additions to our hydronic fan coil range.
- Our booth buzzed with engineers and specifiers interested in low-temp hydronic systems and advanced terminal unit performance.
- Conversations focused on low-temperature operation, zoning flexibility, simplified commissioning, and installer-friendly design, all hallmarks of our latest units.

MCE 2024 reaffirmed what Polar Air already knows: hydronic fan coils built for low-temp operation and smart controls are the future of indoor climates. The event emphasized system interoperability, simplified commissioning, and terminal units that serve as more than boxes. They’re performance anchors for modern building systems.
And now we’re gearing up for MCE 2026 in Milan (March 24–27). If you’re planning to attend, we’d love to discuss how our latest fan coil designs and control-ready platforms can support future-proof HVAC strategies for air-to-water systems and beyond.
