HAHU Horizontal
Mini Air Handling Unit
The Polar Air HAHU is a horizontal hybrid AHU–fan coil unit designed for projects where a standard fan coil isn’t enough. With ESP capacity from 100–400 Pa (0.4–1.6 in.wg), it handles complex layouts often found in large indoor buildings such as hospitals, malls, data centers, and agricultural facilities.
A double-skin casing with 25 mm NBR insulation forms a thermal barrier, reducing casing thermal transfer and maintaining stable supply air across both cooling and heating modes.
Access and serviceability are built in: a lift-down bottom panel provides straightforward maintenance, while airflow-diverting ductwork and VAV boxes enable zone-level temperature customization.
The HAHU is a practical choice for niche applications where large or mixed building loads demand more than standard fan coil performance.

Advantages

Heating & Cooling
Capacities up to 48 kW provides powerful cooling in summer and reliable heating in winter, for year-round comfort.
Ideal for large indoor spaces, including commercial, healthcare and industrial buildings, including shopping malls, hospitals, warehouses and agricultural.

Double Sandwich Design
Double skin casing with 25 mm (1”) NBR insulation forms a thermal barrier that limits heat gain and loss and keeps supply air closer to design values, especially in tropical or humid environments.
Compared to single skin FCUs, casing losses are reduced, improving efficiency in concealed ducted applications.

Multiple rows: 5R · 5R+2 · 6R · 6R+2
Multiple coil row configurations provide greater surface area for heat transfer, delivering higher efficiency and more cooling and heating capacity.
The added surface also improves latent capacity for better humidity control and more consistent comfort across varying load conditions.

ESP Conditions
Medium to high external static pressures from 100 - 400 Pa (0.4 - 1.6 in.wg), recommended 250 Pa (1 in.wg).
Suitable for projects with extended ducting or complex layouts, including agricultural, hospitals and data server rooms where airflow must be sustained.

Models
With five sizes and 2- or 4-pipe options, the HAHU-B gives you room to scale from smaller zones to complex layouts.
Plus its hybrid design closes the gap between fan coil and AHU, so you don’t have to compromise on performance or practicality.

Installation & Maintenance
Installation and servicing are easy with access to components from the bottom with a lift down panel.
Supplied ready to install, with internal steel drain pan, thick 25 mm (1”)
NBR insulation, manual air vent + water purge valve and G2 (MERV 4) filter.

FAQs: HAHU horizontal air handling fan coil hybrids
When would I choose a hybrid AHU–fan coil instead of a standard fan coil?
A standard fan coil works well in small to medium spaces with short duct runs and straightforward cooling or heating loads. But once a project calls for higher static pressures, long duct layouts, or tighter control of supply air, a fan coil will start to fall short.
The HAHU fills that gap — giving you fan coil flexibility with AHU-level performance, without the footprint or complexity of a full air handling unit. In practice, this means you can use it in projects where you’d normally oversize fan coils or struggle to keep airflow balanced.
How does the HAHU compare to a full AHU?
A full AHU offers maximum capacity, filtration, and air treatment — but it comes with a larger footprint, heavier infrastructure requirements, and higher installation costs.
The HAHU gives you a middle ground: it handles higher ESP (100–400 Pa / 0.4–1.6 in.wg, recommended 250 Pa / 1.0 in.wg) and larger duct networks than any fan coil, but it avoids the bulk, energy demand, and servicing complexity of a full AHU. For many projects, it means you can achieve the performance you need without over-specifying equipment.
Can the HAHU Mini AHU support large indoor buildings?
Yes — that’s where a hybrid model proves its value.
The HAHU is used in hospitals, government complexes, shopping centers, universities, agricultural facilities, and data centers, where airflow needs to stay reliable across large floor areas and varied load profiles.
Its double skin casing with 25 mm (1″) NBR insulation provides the thermal stability required for constant operation, while the service-friendly access reduces downtime in 24/7 environments. In short, it’s sized and designed to handle the challenges of large, complex buildings where ordinary fan coils would struggle.
