Ducted fan coils
Designed to deliver consistent airflow across large or complex spaces with medium to high external static pressure, they’re ideal for hospitals, supermarkets, shopping centers, and other high-demand settings where performance and air quality matter.
Our ducted fan coil systems include both medium and high ESP (External Static Pressure) models, designed to integrate effortlessly into new or existing ductwork networks, offering maximum flexibility for installers and consultants.
Available with EC motors, in 2- and 4-pipe models, these units feature integrated drain pans for condensate management, protecting surrounding infrastructure from potential water damage. Our ducted range is flexible, with multiple row configurations available, which increases the coil surface area for improved heat exchange and humidity control.
The Polar Air ducted fan coil range is ideal for those who need high performance and air quality in demanding environments.
Ideal for renewable energy systems
Our fan coils are compatible with heat pumps or solar thermal collectors for ultra-efficient heating and cooling.
FAQs: ducted
How is condensate managed in Polar Air ducted systems, and why is it important?
Efficient condensate drainage is crucial in high-occupancy or sensitive spaces, such as clinics and food retail establishments. Condensate management features safely collect and drain moisture, preventing water damage, mould growth, and HVAC downtime. This ensures hygiene standards are upheld while extending the system’s operational life.
What configuration options are available for different installation requirements?
All models in the Polar Air ducted range are available in both 2-pipe and 4-pipe configurations, allowing for flexible design in systems that require simultaneous heating and cooling – ideal for commercial zones with varying thermal demands.
The PDWA and PDWC models also offer multiple coil row configurations, allowing engineers to tailor performance to the specific thermal and humidity control needs of the space.
- PDWA is available in: 3R, 3R+1, 3R+2, 4R, 4R+2, and 6R.
- PDWC is available in: 3R, 3R+1, 4R, and 4R+1.
More coil rows mean increased surface area for improved heat exchange and higher latent capacity, resulting in better energy efficiency and more precise humidity control. Essential for healthcare, retail, and other climate-critical environments like schools.
What’s the difference between medium and high ESP in Polar Air ducted fan coils?
External Static Pressure (ESP) refers to the resistance the fan must overcome to push air through the ductwork and grilles. Medium ESP systems are ideal for shorter duct runs or simpler layouts, while high ESP systems are better suited for longer ducts, tighter bends, or spaces with higher resistance, which are common in large commercial or healthcare buildings.
In the Polar Air range:
PDWA is designed for medium static pressure, supporting up to 130 Pa (0.5 in.wg), with a recommended operating range of 75 Pa (0.3 in.wg).
PDWC is built for high static pressure requirements, handling up to 180 Pa (0.8 in.wg), with a recommended level of 120 Pa (0.5 in.wg).
Choosing the right ESP ensures the system delivers consistent airflow across all outlets without overloading the fan, helping maintain performance, comfort, and energy efficiency.
