FAQs: slim consoles
Can I install a condensate pump on the PFWSL(U)?
Yes, a condensate pump can be installed with both versions — cased or uncased.
In the uncased version (PFWSLU), the pump can be integrated and mounted next to the unit, allowing for a more compact installation. In the cased version (PFWSL), however, the pump must be installed externally, as there isn’t enough space inside the unit housing.
A condensate pump is useful when the unit can’t drain by gravity. For example, when it’s installed below or far from a drain point, or when the water needs to be pumped upward or over a distance. It helps remove the condensation that forms during cooling and prevents issues like leaks, overflow, or mold from standing water.
How can I mount the PFWSL(U) Slim Console Floorstanding?
The PFWSL(U) ceiling/floor/wall console unit offers great flexibility and choice for installation, making it suitable for a variety of small-scale applications. In fact, there are so many options for mounting or installation, we’ve listed them below.
PFWSL Cased Models: Available with square or rounded corners in high-quality fire-retardant ABS. The Polar Air wired wallpad can be integrated on top of the unit casing for easy control.
- Horizontal: Can be mounted on a ceiling, recessed within a ceiling, suspended below a ceiling, or on the floor for baseboard-style heating or cooling.
- Vertical: Can be mounted to the floor or wall (recommended for a more aesthetically pleasing look). Optional supporting feet for floor mounting.
PFWSLU Uncased Models:
- Horizontal: Can be mounted within a ceiling or suspended below a ceiling. For safety and aesthetic reasons, we recommend to install recessed within a ceiling only.
- Vertical: Can be mounted within a wall.
What capacity should I choose for the PFWSL(U)?
Determining the right capacity for your console fan coil unit is crucial for achieving optimal comfort and efficiency.
The best way to find the perfect fit for your space is by using Polar Air PASELECT software. This innovative tool helps users design their ideal HVAC system by calculating multiple configurations tailored to their specific needs.
Does the PFWSL(U) include an integrated control option?
Yes. The cased model can integrate a Polar Air Wired Wallpad as an optional accessory for convenient, built-in control. Our Infrared Handset can also be chosen as an optional accessory.
What's the difference between the PFWB(C) Universal and PFWSL(U) Slim?
The PFWB(C) Universal is a cabinet or console-style fan coil designed for higher heating and cooling capacities (up to 14 kW) with flexible wall, ceiling, or floor installation. It’s a robust, all-purpose unit suitable for larger residential and educational projects.
The PFWSL(U) Slim is a more compact model with a super-slim 135 mm depth, making it ideal for design-conscious spaces where space is limited. It offers decorative casing options, optional integrated controls, and quieter operation, making it especially suited for residential, hospitality, and educational applications like condos, hotels, and classrooms.
